Meet Roger
Roger Gabrielsen started Justwood Floors in North Salem in 1986 and still does the work himself. He comes out for the estimate, tells you plainly whether your floors need a refinish, a repair or just a recoat, and then does the sanding, staining and installing alongside his crew. Your job isn’t handed off: the craftsmanship you read about in our reviews is Roger’s own.
Barbara handles scheduling and keeps you posted from the first call to the final coat. Many of our customers have called us back for decades, and many more found us through a neighbor or their realtor.

We refinish and install floors in homes of every age, from new construction to additions and kitchen remodels. Older floors are where experience matters most: original boards in 18th-century homes, 1950s oak, Victorian parlors and floors that spent decades under carpet. Roger looks at what an old floor can take before any sanding starts, replaces and patches boards so repairs blend in, and matches stain so new and old wood read as one floor.

Is hardwood flooring environmentally friendly?

We work with trusted suppliers, including FSC®-certified producers like Mullican Flooring and Vermont Plank Flooring, as well as sustainable regional mills in the Northeast, and offer Bona GREENGUARD Gold-certified, low-VOC finishes.
Is hardwood flooring easy to maintain?
Yes. Hardwood floors are easy to care for with regular cleaning. Vacuum with a soft-brush attachment to remove dust and debris, and mop with a tightly wrung damp cloth as often as you would for other floors. Avoid oil-based cleaners; mild solutions like diluted white vinegar work well. When light surface scratches begin to accumulate in high-traffic areas, the top layer can be lightly scuffed and the floor re-coated to restore its appearance.
